Privacy Policy

Last updated August 18, 2026

BiteHalo is designed to help you understand your nutrition while keeping you in control of what you share. This policy explains the information BiteHalo processes, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.

1. Information you choose to provide

Depending on the features you use, BiteHalo may process meal descriptions, meal photos, barcodes, nutrition-label images or text, serving information, calorie and macro corrections, goals, and onboarding answers. BiteHalo only accesses the camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, or Apple Health after you choose the related feature and grant permission through iOS.

2. Meal analysis and app data

When you request an AI estimate, the content needed for that request—such as a selected photo or meal description—is sent securely to BiteHalo’s meal-analysis service. The result is returned for your review and can be edited before it is saved.

When you search for a packaged food or scan its barcode, the search terms or barcode are sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve matching product information. Open Food Facts may receive ordinary request information such as an IP address and user agent under its privacy policy.

Your meal history, favorites, recent foods, onboarding choices, and app preferences are stored on your device. Removing the app or clearing its local data may remove that information unless it is also stored through an Apple service you control.

3. Apple Health

If you grant access, BiteHalo may read selected step, active-energy, and weight information to show progress, and may write nutrition from meals you log. Apple Health access is optional and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.

BiteHalo does not use HealthKit data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not disclose it to data brokers. This follows Apple’s HealthKit privacy requirements.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store payments. BiteHalo uses RevenueCat to validate purchases and keep Pro access in sync. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous app user identifier, app and device information, storefront information, and purchase or subscription events. BiteHalo does not receive your full payment-card details. RevenueCat describes its practices in its privacy policy.

5. Technical and support information

When you use the service, limited technical information may be processed to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve BiteHalo—for example app version, device and operating-system details, request timing, and error information. If you contact support, we process your message and contact details to answer you.

6. How information is used and shared

Information is used to provide meal estimates, save your chosen records, display progress, manage subscriptions, respond to support, prevent abuse, and maintain the service. BiteHalo does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only as needed to perform these functions, or when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. Retention, security, and international processing

On-device records remain until you delete them or remove the app. Service and support records are kept only as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, security, legal compliance, and dispute resolution. No system is perfectly secure, but reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used. Service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.

8. Your choices and rights

You can change device permissions in iOS Settings, edit or delete meal records in the app, manage subscriptions through your Apple Account, and contact us about access, correction, deletion, or other rights available under applicable privacy law. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.

9. Children and changes to this policy

BiteHalo is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age where they live, without involvement of a parent or guardian. We may update this policy as the app or law changes. The updated date above will change, and material changes will be communicated when required.

10. Contact
